(John’s) Red Pants Blend

Honestly, you either get it or you don’t. Either way, this is one sexy blend, guaranteed to get your blood flowing.
Dedicated to Reapersun who is really entirely to blame for all of this nonsense.
The cinnamon and chai are the predominant scents, and my particular tin (I ordered the 6oz prepackaged dealio because TINS ARE COOL) houses quite a bit of cloves and orange peels, as can be seen in the picture above. The sweetness of the almond rides atop everything.
I can only guess that I’m not the biggest fan of cloves in my tea? Which would explain why I’m not often a chai drinker. (I don’t dislike it, but it’s not what I go to first, you know what I mean?) Like, I need to be in a certain mood for it. The addition of milk improves this blend immensely for me. I’ve had 3 cups of this black, steeped at 3/4/5 minutes/212 degrees Fahrenheit, 1 cup with 2% milk and sugar steeped at 4 minutes/212 degrees, and just now I am trying a cup with Cream Top Milk and a teaspoon of Orange Blossom honey steeped at 3 minutes/212 degrees. (I am participating in October Unprocessed so I’ve been having a bit of time trying to find unprocessed, or as minimally processed as possible, milk around here. Which is kind of funny in a sad way to me because if I drive in any given direction for more than about 10 minutes I will see dairy cows so…)
This last cup I’m enjoying the most, though I’m not sure if it’s the shorter steeping time, the additions, or the fact that October has finally cooled down this week and I always associate cloves and cinnamon and orange peels with autumn (my favorite season) and the coming winter. The almond mellows quite a bit, and the bite of the cinnamon is pleasant. I seem to prefer the shorter steeping time, since the first cup I tried steeping around 5 minutes I remember having an almost bitter impression, but maybe I’m doing it wrong? Also, I took it black so maybe I should have added milk to it to balance it out. I haven’t had much rooibos before so what am I even doing. I imagine I’ll be trying this blend a bit more since, you know, Winter is Coming.
I gave this blend 3 out of 5 stars. You can purchase it here.
